Session 1 - Chapter 1 Introduction
Provide students with a sample grade level standard - download the curriculum from http://www.pesoftware.com/demos.html if you do not have a curriculum available. Have students complete Steps 1-3 for the standard provided.
Step 1: Identify the standard noting the verb, type of verb, and skill, activity, or content.
Step 2: Choose the assessment tool or tools that best allow students to demonstrate their achievement relative to the standard.
Step 3: State the criteria for competence.
Step 4: Describe the levels of quality.
Step 5: Develop samples of student work that illustrate each level of quality.
Session 2 - Chapter 2 Assessment Tools
Use Cooperative Learning - Jigsaw (students are assigned different tools to learn and share with the group).
Session 3 - Chapter 3 Scoring Systems
Have students write four and six-point rubrics.
Session 4 - Chapter 4 Assessments for Standard 1
Have students determine assessments for Standard 1.
Session 5 - Chapter 5 Assessments for Standard 2
Have students determine assessments for Standard 1 (critical elements and biomechanics).
Session 6 - Chapter 5 Assessments for Standard 2
Have students determine assessments for Standard 2 (motor development, motor learning, and game tactics).
Session 7 - Chapter 6Assessments for Standard 3
Have students determine assessments for Standard 3.
Session 8 - Chapter 7 Assessments for Standard 4
Have students determine assessments for Standard 4.

Have students participate in a fitness test battery.
